Week of March 26, 2012

Hello my sons!!

Well, it’s been spring break here all week and we have enjoyed some time off of our regularly scheduled programming.

The weather has been atrocious!  The rain just keeps on coming down and we have flood warnings up all over the place.  And the forecast is for more rain as far as they can see!  We may never have spring! So, don’t tell me about your heat!

Drew…… Brenna will be home May 3rd!

Adam…Brother Hillam was going to put your car on a trailer and bring it to us over this weekend and it was going to cost $500.  Dad emailed and tried to reply to his messages, but he never got back to us, so we don’t know what happened there.  Don’t know if it’s going to show up at our doorstep or if he’s just going to wait for us to go get it in July.

It’s GENERAL CONFERENCE Weekend!  I love Conference!  I actually just got up to make some cinnamon rolls when I remembered I hadn’t written to you yet, so they may have to wait until tomorrow! Can’t wait to hear the talks today.

Lainey and I went to North Bend on Monday night and stayed until Thursday. We had fun.  Lainey rested and read the entire book of Hunger Games.  Now she’s into book two.  She wants to see the movie, but she’s trying to talk Dad into reading the book first.  The movie came out a week or so ago.  It’s quite popular.  I don’t get it.  There are a lot of very young kids reading the book and seeing the movie.  I don’t think it’s appropriate at a young age, but then again, it’s not my kind of story either.

Grandma and Grandpa Inman are doing the remodel on their kitchen and I got to dig in and help.  It’s going to be so nice!  I’lll send a couple of pictures when they are done.  Mitchell is there and he had all new cabinet doors and drawers made and shipped to them.  While I was there, Grandpa demolished the old counter top.  That was a sight!  There was ¾ inch of concrete under the tiles!  He took it all off down to the plywood underneath.  Also we took all the drawers and doors off and Uncle Marty sanded all the lower facings of wood.  Grandma and I sanded most of the upper ones.  So, in the next few days, they’ll have all new cabinet and drawer fronts and all new countertops!  They are also tiling the back splash along the entire length of the counters and covering all the old wallpaper.  Should be really pretty!  While the men were doing the doors, Grandma and I went through all her old  medications and food in the cupboards.  We threw most of it away because they were almost all past their pull dates!  Some of it was up to 10 years or more past!  I’ve got keep a better eye out for those old folks!  They are going to poison themselves!

Oh, great news!!  You know how Grandma was in pretty much constant pain with her neuropathy?  Well, here old doctor retired and she started going to a new nurse practitioner.  She recommended that grandma go to a new pain specialist and that lady recommended changing her drug routine.  She took her off of her regular pain meds and told her to try Lyrica.  Grandma’s pain has been down to the level of about a one on the 1-10 pain scale for the last month!!!!!!  She’s also able to sleep at night again!  She’s so happy!  She said she was offered this medication years ago, but she was afraid to switch for fear it wouldn’t work!  I’m so happy for her!  Couldn’t believe she had as much stamina this week as she did!

We got to see Grandma and Grandpa Hopper this week too, of course.  They are doing well.  No complaints!  They are looking for another house to rent.  One with a walk in shower stall for Grandpa.  Also, it seems the owner of their current house is putting it on the market to sell.  So, the saga continues.  Grandma is so fussy, we’ll see if and when it happens!

That’s about all there is to tell this week!

I love you both and pray you are well and happy!
